My foray into writing books

When I was in college, I had a new keeda, of writing. I wrote a thriller story that was brimming in my mind for quite some time.

The first draft turned out to be about 50 pages, and was full of crap.

But I was determined to fix it. Thus began my journey as a novelist. Fixing it took me almost a year. I read a lot of stories, took online classes on how to write, and ended up writing a somewhat decent story – a “manuscript” – as they called it.

A publisher was running a contest for new authors around the same time, and I ended up sending a copy of my book to them. The world was rooting for me, so Digital Nervous Breakdown book won the contest. They decided to publish the book and market it, which was all the impetus I needed at the time.

I was ready to be a world-famous author winning prizes and living off of royalties. But, but, but…

Well, that time hasn’t come (and I don’t think it will), but what has happened since then is a lot more writing across formats (books, short stories, short films, feature films, TV series). Most of it is unpublished, but the bank of work is long and keeps getting better (or at least I think so).

Here are my books so far (and I hope more come soon!)

Hindi Hacking

I recently published a simple guide to learning Hindi for people who don’t speak Hindi, but are curious to impress their friends, or prepare for their next trip to India.

More on why I wrote this book here.

It’s a no non-sense, fast paced book that will get you introduced to Hindi. The book is live on Amazon and is getting some good early feedback.

Based on initial feedback, I am currently working on expanding the content to more situations and audiences here.

The Advisory Board

Shekhar Tripathi’s car gets slammed by an SUV while it is parked in front of his apartment building. He is informed that the car is no longer drive-able. He is already in grief, not having recovered from his wife’s death three months ago. At the same time, his business – Westland Tourism, is dwindling rapidly.

The next morning, he is forced to take a taxi for the first time in five years. The driver tells him a horrific story, which convinces Shekhar that not all of his life is done. After this rocking journey, Shekhar is convinced to take another taxi ride. Accompanied by taxi drivers, Shekhar begins his quest for survival.

Good news! You can get the book for free here. All I ask for is a good rating on Goodreads.

Digital Nervous Breakdown

This book was my first ever attempt at writing fiction for publishing, so getting it published felt like a dream. The book explores the question – ‘What if the entire world was a database and it got hacked?’

The book won the ‘Views and Vistas’ competition by Vishwakarma Publications, Pune in 2015.
